Chris Coleman hopes his future as Wales manager will be resolved by the time his contract runs out at the end of this month. Coleman will take charge of his 50th international at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night, when his side faces World Cup qualifiers Panama, with his future still hanging in the balance. The man who led Wales to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 wants assurances over full-time positions for some members of his back-up team, as well as an improved contract for himself.
Cardiff City midfield player Tyrone Duffus has joined Hereford FC on loan. Former Everton trainee Duffus, 20, has moved to Southern League Hereford until January 1 and will be available for their Premier Division clash with rivals Merthyr Town at the Loadlok Community Stadium on Boxing Day (1pm). Duffus played for the Bluebirds under-23 team […]
Jamie Roberts is back in the Wales squad with Wales fearing they have lost injured centre Jonathan Davies for the rest of the autumn series. Roberts, who has won 93 caps, missed out on a place in the original 36-man party announced by Wales head coach Warren Gatland last month. But he has now reported for duty at Wales’ training base, along with another call-up in Cardiff Blues prop Scott Andrews, who is currently on loan with Aviva Premiership club Bath.

Elinor Barker banked two more gold medals at the UCI World Cup in Manchester to underline her status as arguably British cycling’s top female rider. She teamed up with Katie Archibald to win the Madison on Saturday and then a day later jumped into the Team Pursuit quartet to storm to another Team GB golden success in front of a packed house at the Manchester velodrome. Barker and Archibald were joined by Neah Evans and Emily Nelson in the final against Italy and they recorded their fastest women’s team pursuit time since their world record-breaking exploits in last year’s Olympic final. They won in a time of 4:16.803, compared to the world record set by Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell Shand, Archibald and Barker of 4:10.236 in Rio, to win by five seconds.

Leaders Caernarfon Town produced a sensational fight-back in their Huws Gray Alliance top of the table clash with hosts Airbus Broughton. Caernarfon’s Canaries were three goals down after 21 minutes at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, but they fought back with pride and spirit in the second half. The Wingmakers were totally dominant before the break […]
Jake Ball has insisted there is little between Wales and Australia, despite Saturday’s 13th successive defeat. The Wales second row believes the gap between the teams can be attributed to errors as Wales attempt to settle into a more expansive playing style. Wales were ultimately undone by three first-half tries and poor defensive strategies, yet the second period proved in contrast as they outscored the Wallabies and a grandstand finish beckoned until visiting full-back Kurtley Beale claimed a contentious breakaway try.
Wales will discover on Monday whether or not Jonathan Davies’s autumn campaign is already over. The Scarlets centre is due to receive news on his ankle injury that threatens to rule him out of the key Tests against New Zealand and South Africa. Davies was helped from the Principality Stadium pitch after suffering a suspected ligament injury during the dying seconds of Wales’ 29-21 defeat against Australia.

Warren Gatland insists there is no mental block when it comes to Australia, but there is still a growing statistical one. For the 13th time Wales were unable to overcome the green and gold obstacle in their path as they lost 29-21 in the opening match of their autumn series at the Principality Stadium. The Aussies scored tries through Tatafu Polota-Nau, Adam Coleman, Michael Hooper and Kurtley Beale and they withstood some intense pressure from Wales, whose tries came via Steff Evans and Hallam Amos.

Owen Williams is hoping to turn back the clock and strike up a winning midfield partnership for Wales with Jonathan Davies five years after he last played with the British & Irish Lions hero. The Gloucester playmaker admits he has been “thrown in the deep end” by Warren Gatland against Australia for the opening game in the Autumn series at the Principality Stadium on Saturday and says: “I guess it is sink or swim.” Having held his nerve to kick a match winning conversion for the Cherry & Whites at Bath as an outside-half recently, Williams finds himself making his first start for Wales at inside centre after nine minutes as a blood replacement in the win over Tonga in the summer.
