Scarlets Eager To Replace John Barclay With Ross Moriarty

The Scarlets are all set to ramp-up their interest in securing the signing of Wales back row man Ross Moriarty after the news that John Barclay is heading to Edinburgh next season. The Scottish skipper is reported to have penned a three-year deal with the Scottish capital club, bringing an end to a hugely successful five year stint in West Wales. But last season’s Guinness PRO12 champions are confident of putting together their “strongest squad for years” in a bid to achieve more silverware and regularly reach the last eight of the Champions Cup.

Records Are There To Be Broken (Unless It’s Wales’ Record Of Defeats To The All Blacks)

The Georgians are coming, the All Blacks are not far behind, and the injuries are mounting. Robin Davey is even more agitated than usual, although at least he didn’t get wet queuing to get in to the Wallabies game. Wales may be hosting Georgia on Saturday in a game that has a lot going for it, but the spectre of the All Blacks is looming. It’s gratifying the Welsh Rugby Union have granted Georgia an opportunity to showcase their talents at this level, for they have long been pressing their case for inclusion in the Six Nations tournament, though quite how they can be accommodated is another matter.

Georgia Ready To Show Wales Why They Deserve More Than Crumbs From The Table

Georgia coach Milton Haig has claimed his team deserve more than their one-off Test against Wales this week. The Georgians arrive in Cardiff fresh from thrashing Canada 54-22 in Tbilisi, but their opportunities to play tier one nations like Wales are few and far between. The Georgians now regularly hammer fellow tier two nations and dominate the European Nations tournament, but have so far been given no encouragement they will ever get into the closed shop that is the Six Nations.

Chris Coleman Bows Out And Now There Are Only Three Possible Outcomes

Chris Coleman has waved goodbye, paid his thanks, and shaken hands – but he still does not know if he has taken charge of his final Wales match. Coleman did all the things a departing manager might be expected to do after his team had drawn 1-1 with Panama in a friendly at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night. There was the wave to fans and raised applause, the acknowledgments of the contributions of others, and the best wishes for what he hopes will be a bright future for the young side that, in the strict contractual sense, he has now ended his association with.

Jamie McDonald – An Inspiration

It has to be one of the saddest, yet most inspirational sports stories of the year, the passing of former Team Wales Commonwealth Games judo player Jamie McDonald. That someone so young and so talented should finally lose his fight against cancer at the young age of 26 is tragic. The way in which he stood up to the disease, refused to give in and made the most of the final two years of his life was typically courageous. “I think the mentality of a judo battle, that’s the way I’m treating this. You go down, you get up, you keep fighting. You know that with every judo fight there’s going to be an end, a winner and a loser. I suppose you kind of have that with cancer as well, you might lose at the end but I’m going to get a few big throws in along the way.” Jamie McDonald, 2017
