Cardiff Devils powered to a sixth successive victory and will go to Scotland on Wednesday full of confidence.

Head coach Andrew Lord and his team travel to Dundee Stars for an Elite League fixture on Wednesday aiming to be in seventh heaven.

They certainly were at Ice Arena Wales where Devils outshot their visitors 42-12 and earned a convincing 7-2 victory.

Edinburgh Capitals were running a short bench of 14 skaters and, while they battled fiercely over the three periods, they were under pressure.

Joey Haddad and Mark Louis were again the import scratches, while Thomas Murdy was their starting goaltender.

Justin Faryna completed a big weekend, having scored three goals in wins against Belfast Giants away (3-0) and Capitals.

Devils now travel to Dundee on Wednesday before playing Fife Flyers at home on Saturday (7pm). Sunday’s clash with Nottingham Panthers will be their fifth match in nine days.

Joey Martin, Matt Pope and Sean Bentivoglio were the first line out, followed by Layne Ulmer, Josh Batch and Paul Crowder.

Patrick Asselin joined Faryna and Matthew Myers.

Ulmer opened the scoring after nine minutes, converting on the powerplay, before Faryna made it 2-0 to the Devils just over three minutes later.

Edinburgh hit back through Marek Tvrdon 57 seconds into the second period, but the two-goal cushion was quickly restored by Faryna before Asselin netted midway through the period.

Captain Jake Morissette scored Cardiff’s fifth goal and Devils continued to press. Martin scored in the 49th minute before Batch hit the net just over five minutes from the end.

Tvrdon replied for Caps in the closing minutes, but it was only a consolation effort for Capitals, who conceded seven goals for the second successive night. They were beaten 7-0 by Guildford Flames on Saturday.

New Head Coach Dmitri Khristich has endured a difficult start to his tenure at the club with his roster disrupted by a string of injuries and personnel changes.
