Swansea City U21 manager Cameron Toshack believes his youngsters must learn to be more ruthless after they were knocked out of the Checkatrade Trophy by Charlton Athletic. The Swans went out of the competition on Tuesday night in a 3-2 defeat at the Liberty Stadium, meaning there will be no repeat of their run to the quarter-finals of last season where they lost to eventual winners Coventry City. Toshack’s team produced a spirited performance against their League One opponents, with the scores level at 2-2 at the break.
England rugby chief Steve Brown has appeared to doubt Wales’ plans to replace Warren Gatland as coach. The RFU chief executive has also claimed he believes England are not far behind in their own preparations to replace Eddie Jones after the 2019 World Cup. The Welsh Rugby Union announced in October they had already drawn up a three-man shortlist to succeed Gatland and aimed to make an announcement in the summer of 2018 – over a year before the New Zealander is due to return home.

The Lions forward was granted release by the club even though the match fell outside of the World Rugby approved international window. Faletau has a clause in his contract with Bath that provides him with release for all Wales matches, even if the club are playing on the same weekend – as was the case last Saturday.

Cardiff also have a home tie against League Two Mansfield Town, while Swansea City have a tough looking away draw at Championship leaders Wolves.
