Carlos Carvalhal Is Still Fishing And Fighting . . . As The Swans Stay Afloat

Carlos Carvalhal has vowed to keep battling to bring in new players after Jurgen Klopp left Swansea having picked two fights and lost both as well as his team’s unbeaten 18-match record. Swansea manager Carvalhal paid tribute to his team’s instincts as they scrapped their way to a priceless 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Monday night. The unexpected triumph has not yet turned their season around, but it has transformed the outlook. Now, only three points adrift of safety and only six from halfway, they will believe there are at least half a dozen clubs they can pick off in the remaining 14 matches of the Premier League season.

Carlos The Jack Insists The Miracle Can Start Tonight – Seven Wins From 15 Matches

Carlos Carvalhal believes the miracle can begin at home to Liverpool on Monday night as Swansea City plot an escape route from relegation. The Swansea City manager sends his players in search of their first home Premier League win under his charge against a team who have not lost for 18 matches. Carvalhal has had a decent start since he took over from Paul Clement and the statistic he justifiably points to as evidence of improvement is just one defeat in five matches. But two of those five games – the draw and then subsequent victory over Wolves – were in the FA Cup and the Portuguese does not need reminding he was not hired to bring success in that competition.

Welsh Netball On The Floor . . . And In Need Of Shake Up

Welsh Netball needs to pick itself up off the floor after failing to qualify for the 2019 World Cup in Liverpool and hit back at the Commonwealth Games in April. The trip to the Gold Coast now looks like being a seminal tournament for the players and coaches. If they fail to come up with something better than their defeats to Scotland (52-40) and N.Ireland (57-42) at this weekend’s Netball Europe World Cup qualifying tournament, where they were comfortably beaten by both nations, they are in danger of tumbling down the world rankings. A proud Welsh Netball CEO, Sarah Jones, was able to announce Wales had risen to a best ever seventh in the International Netball World Rankings in September last year. Prior to the weekend they were ninth ahead of their defeats to Scotland (11th) and N.Ireland (8th) in Perth.

Dan Biggar Goes Into Wales Camp With Six Nations Injury Shadow

Dan Biggar’s shoulder will be assessed by Wales medical staff on Sunday after the Ospreys’ No.10 was injured during his team’s defeat to Clermont Auvergne which ended the region’s campaign in Europe. And it comes barely 24 hours after his fellow Wales No.10 Rhys Priestland was sidelined for the majority of the tournament due to a hamstring problem.
