Mica Moore and her Great Britain bobsleigh partner Mica McNeill were sixth at the halfway point of the women’s two-person bobsleigh at the Winter Olympics. Ruthless Warren Gatland Targets Irish Duo After Axing New Boys

Warren Gatland plans to act as ruthlessly in blitzing Ireland pair Johnny Sexton and Conor Murray as he has in axing Rhys Patchell and Josh Adams. Patchell and Adams have both paid the price for Wales’ defeat to England at Twickenham by losing their places in the squad that meets Ireland on Saturday. Neither player was able to maintain the standards and influence they showed in the victory over Scotland. Instead, Dan Biggar, Leigh Halfpenny and Liam Williams all return and Gareth Anscombe goes back to the bench for a game Wales have to win to maintain any hope of winning the Six Nations title.

Neil Warnock Says Cardiff City Are Still Outsiders. . . And Takes On Pep Guardiola Again

Neil Warnock insists Cardiff City are still outsiders to win automatic promotion to the Premier League – despite their two-point lead over their rivals. The Cardiff City manager has dismissed the chances of leaders Wolves surrendering their 11-point advantage at the top and thinks Aston Villa, Derby and Fulham still have a better chance of finishing runners-up. As the Bluebirds boss bids to extend his team’s unbeaten run to seven matches at Ipswich on Wednesday, he surveyed the position at the top of the table, while also taking another swipe at Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Bethan Davies Breaks UK Record As She Steps Up The Pace For Gold Coast

Bethan Davies proved she is on course for a medal shot at the Commonwealth Games in two months’ time as she smashed another British record to strike gold over 5K at the British Indoor Championships on Sunday. The Cardiff race walker, who had joined in the 10th anniversary celebrations of parkrun in the Welsh capital the day before, led her Team Wales team mate Heather Lewis home at Birmingham in a UK best time of 21 min, 25.37 sec. Joe Schmidt Says Ireland Are Ready To Jab Lightweight Wales

Ireland coach Joe Schmidt believes Wales have slimmed down to speed up but still thinks Warren Gatland’s luck could run out on Saturday. Wales will go to Dublin looking to extend a recent record of just one defeat to the Irish in their last five meetings as they seek a victory that would keep them still in contention for the Six Nations title, despite the defeat to England at Twickenham. Ireland still have designs on a Grand Slam after two opening wins against France and Italy, with Schmidt believing the bounce of the ball and some tight decisions have gone in Wales’ favour during recent fixtures.

Cardiff Blues Will Not Look Back In Anger, Says Danny Wilson

Danny Wilson insists his buoyant Cardiff Blues will chase the teams above them in the Guinness Pro14 Conference A table – rather than look over their shoulder. The Blues’ 25-18 victory at home to Munster at the weekend has strengthened their chances of getting back into the European Champions Cup next season. Three teams from each conference qualify, but that does not include the South African sides, so the Blues’ current fourth spot would be enough to get them back into the premier European tournament.

Sean Morrison Backs Cardiff City’s Commandos To Achieve Promotion Mission

Sean Morrison believes Neil Warnock has built a Cardiff City team fit for purpose – a 46-game slog over difficult terrain in all conditions. It requires a fighting unit with physical resilience and mental strength to finish that journey inside the top two of the Championship, but the Bluebirds captain thinks his squad possess both. Cardiff are not back to the summit they occupied for so long during the opening weeks of the season, but with Wolves disappearing into the clouds above, Warnock’s team are currently looking a good bet to claim the second automatic promotion slot.
