In his heyday, few could match the speed and utter commitment of Geoff Jones behind the steering wheel – rallying Escort RS2000s, Nissan Micra Kit Cars and Subaru Impreza STis through the British forests with great style and gusto.

Competing himself is now limited to one or two rallies a year, as the 54-year old from Machynlleth prepares and runs cars for others, from his highly-successful Geoff Jones Motorsport operation.

And now Geoff has generously offered an intriguing reward for the mid-season leaders of the Pirelli MSA Welsh Forest Rally Championship – a day’s tuition with the master himself!

So, following the Welshpool-based Plains Rally on May 12, the leaders of the overall championship, the under 23 category, Group N, two-wheel drive and the Ravenol Challenge section will spend a special bonus day with Geoff – covering everything from car set-up and preparation to driving technique.

“We are very grateful to Geoff and his team for their support,” said Championship co-ordinator Dave Evison. “Geoff is, of course, a leading car preparation specialist as well as being a hugely experienced driver. I’m sure the training that he can provide will be invaluable for any Championship contender.”

“We are delighted to put something back into rallying in this way,” adds Geoff. “We hope the day will be an enjoyable one for everyone present but, more importantly, a useful one.”
