Butter-Fingered Neil Warnock Hoping Emiliano Sala Doesn’t Slip From His Hands

Neil Warnock is hoping it might still be third time lucky in the transfer market in his quest to keep Cardiff City in the Premier League. Already this month the veteran Bluebirds boss has been thwarted in his bid to land Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne and Nice’s Adrien Tameze, but he hasn’t given up hope on landing Lyon striker Emiliano Sala.

Meet Charlie Hemphrey . . . The New Glamorgan Batsman Who Arrives With Some Baggage

Glamorgan have signed Charlie Humphrey for the coming season, a former baggage-handler in Australia. The Welsh county have certainly got used to being left on the carousel when it comes to success in recent years but Alun Rhys Chivers has uncovered what could be some useful Yorkshire grit. Until four years ago, Yorkshireman Charlie Hemphrey was “throwing bags” onto aeroplanes at Brisbane Airport. At 25 years old, the batsman and occasional off-spinner had been rejected three times by Kent, and once each by Essex and Derbyshire.

The Celtic Dragons’ New Sunshine Girl Is Warming To Her Welsh Adventure

As a member of the national team affectionately known as the Sunshine Girls, it is hardly surprising that Jamaican international Stacian Facey is finding a cold and grey January in Cardiff not quite to her tastes. Not that anyone would have thought the Celtic Dragons’ new overseas signing looked anything but at home when she made an impressive Vitality Superleague debut in Birmingham last week. Stacian, though, has sacrificed more than just six months of Caribbean warmth to pursue her dream of playing overseas.

Anthony Pilkington Can Keep Us Up, Say Wigan

Anthony Pilkington has been backed to help keep Wigan in the Championship after completing a free transfer move from Cardiff City. The Bluebirds striker has been surplus to manager Neil Warnock’s requirements for some time and has not played a senior game so far this season, despite the team’s struggles in the Premier League. But the 30-year-old winger – who scored 23 goals in 111 appearances for the Bluebirds – has the kind of knowledge and experience Wigan believe can keep them above the relegation zone.

Wales Set To Face Ntamack Mk II

Romain Ntamack – son of legendary French wing Emile Ntamack – could make his debut against Wales in the Six Nations opener. The 19-year-old outside-half is one of five uncapped players named by France coach Jacques Brunel for the match in Paris on February 1. Ntamack’s selection is reward for his impressive form in a resurgent Toulouse team in recent weeks and he could well go head-to-head against likely Wales No.10 Gareth Anscombe.

Aaron Ramsey Joining Juventus In Five-Year Deal, Reports

Aaron Ramsey will join Juventus in a deal reportedly worth £36million bringing to an end his 10-year spell with Arsenal. The former Cardiff City midfielder had been in talks with several of Europe’s top clubs including Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich. But, according to reports in Italy, Ramsey has agreed to join the Serie A giants at the end of this season in a five-year deal and will become a team-mate of Cristiano Ronaldo. Ramsey is available on a free transfer when his contract ends in June and had been free to talks to clubs as a free agent. The 28-year-old will reputedly earn £140,000 a week at Juventus, who have won the league title for the past seven seasons and are nine points clear this campaign. It had become clear that Ramsey would be leaving the Gunners, the club he joined in a near £5million deal from boyhood club Cardiff in 2008 after he had played in the Bluebirds’ FA Cup Final defeat to Portsmouth. The Caerphilly-born player has since won three FA Cup with his 52 goals including the winner in the 2014 and 2017 finals.
