Scarlets Facing £1m Meltdown As “Scexit” Looms For Euro Stalwarts

They’ve just written off £8m of directors’ loans, still owe £2.6m to Carmarthen County Council and saw their annual losses rise by £40,000 to £643,035. And now the Scarlets, often perceived as the paragon of so many virtues in Welsh rugby, are heading into potentially even choppier financial waters after their latest slip-up on the playing field. Last weekend’s 20-12 home defeat to Edinburgh virtually put them out of the race for a quarter-final berth in the Guinness PRO14 finals series and even stacked the odds against them making the play-off for the final Heineken Champions Cup spot.

Connor Roberts Insists The Impossible Is Still Possible For Swans

Connor Roberts believes Swansea City’s resurgent form could yet open a back door entrance to the Championship play-offs. The odds may be stacked against the Swans climbing back into the top six, but with four of their remaining seven matches at home and their three away games all against teams below them, the Wales defender has not given up hope. Roberts has been a mainstay for Graham Potter this season and was convinced the tide would turn after the club suffered three successive defeats, before their recent back-to-back victories over Brentford and Middlesbrough.

Stevie Williams Aiming To Basque In Glory After Five Months In The Shade

Stevie Williams may be one of the hottest young properties in British road racing, but the Aberystwyth rider will just be glad to be back in the saddle when he lines up for his new team in the Tour of the Basque Country this week. The six-day, 784km ‘Itzulia 2019’ will be Williams’ debut ride for the world tour series Team Bahrain-Merida, but it hasn’t been an easy run to getting to the start line of a race that was won by Slovenian star Primoz Roglic in 2018, with former Team Sky rider Mikel Landa second. A nagging knee injury forced Williams to spend five months fighting back to fitness and now he is ready to test himself in the top tier of cycling.

The Special Dan . . . Tony Pulis Gives His Verdict On Tormentor James

Tony Pulis has described Daniel James as “a special player” after the Swansea City winger made it a painful return over the border for Middlesbrough’s Welsh manager. James was part of a Swansea side that tormented Boro and might easily have doubled the 3-1 scoreline that kept alive the Swans’ faint hopes of reaching the promotion play-offs. For the second time in five days, James was too hot to handle as he continued his exceptional first full season for the club.
