Ben Gregory remains on a life support machine as he receives the prayers and best wishes from across Welsh sport following his cycling accident. The Welsh decathlete – who represented Wales at three Commonwealth Games – is in a coma after suffering a fractured skull and neck and brain haemorrhages. The 31-year-old was injured at the weekend and after a social media post from his partner, Naomi Heffernan, there have been expressions of concern and supportive messages from fellow athletes and officials.

Jeremiah Azu has vowed to show his blazing talent on the world stage next year and avenge the “nonsense” of the ranking system that denied him earlier this summer. The 21-year-old Welsh star produced a brilliant run to claim a bronze medal in the 100m final at the European Athletics Championships in Munich on Tuesday night.
