Alfie Mawson Will Take England Blow In His Stride, Says Carlos Carvalhal

Alfie Mawson will not be affected by his England selection disappointment, according to Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal. Mawson will return to action as the Swans resume their Premier League campaign at Manchester United on Saturday, without having won his first cap during the international break. The 24-year-old centre-back – arguably the club’s most consistent performer this season – was among the substitutes for England’s friendlies against both the Netherlands and Italy, but failed to get on the pitch.

Carlos The Black Eagle Has Turkish Tales That Have Helped Him Fly As A Swan

Carlos Carvalhal has revealed how managing in Turkey gave him the resilience to cope with a Premier League relegation battle. The Swansea City manager had to deal with jailings, an absent board and no pay during his spell at Besiktas – all of which helps keep his current tasks in some sort of perspective. Carvalhal takes the Swans to Manchester United this weekend, where he will come face-to-face with compatriot Jose Mourinho, who he once studied during a week spent when his fellow Portuguese boss was at Chelsea.

Carlos, King Of The Metaphors, Abdicates And Says He’d Rather Just Shut Up

For once, Carlos Carvalhal kept it zipped after Swansea City were undone by a far superior Tottenham to bow out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage. Saturday’s 3-0 defeat meant an end to any dreams of improving on the Swans’ famous 1964 journey to the semi-finals, an outcome the Portuguese manager felt best spoke for itself. Carvalhal is now widely admired for his colorful and often lengthy descriptions of his team, and much else besides, but gave his briefest analysis yet after only his third defeat in 17 matches.

Ki And Son Could Be World Beaters, Says Carlos Carvalhal

Carlos Carvalhal believes South Korea could win the World Cup – if they had nine other players at the level of Ki Sung-Yueng and Heung-Min Son. Swansea City midfelder Ki and Tottenham’s Son go head-to-head at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. The pair are arguably the in-form players in either side, with Ki scoring in the Swans’ recent 4-1 thrashing of West Ham and Son having scored seven times in his last four games to eclipse the currently injured Harry Kane.

Rabbi Taking On The Bosnian Challenge With Wales

Rabbi Matondo, the Welsh whizz kid who plays for Manchester City, will happily go right, left or centre. The right-sided speed king, who has plenty of tricks to go with his pace, was born in Liverpool and played for England at under-15 level, but switched to Wales after playing for the Cardiff City Academy. Alfie Mawson Praises Nine-Point Swing To The Carvalhal Party

Alfie Mawson admits he cannot quite put his finger on the Carlos Carvalhal effect – but he will settle for simply reaping the benefit. The Swansea City defender has paid a glowing tribute to his manager who has steered the club to a position where they are now four points clear of the Premier League relegation zone. When Carvalhal arrived in late December, the club were five points adrift of safety. In political terms, that’s a nine-point swing to the Carvalhal Party.

Six In A Row For Emotional Warnock And His Bluebirds

Cardiff City earned a sixth successive Championship victory and have surely clinched a place in the play-offs. Carlos Carvalhal Is Out For Points Rather Than Revenge At Huddersfield

Carlos Carvalhal insists revenge will not be the spur when he takes his Swansea City team to Huddersfield. The Swans manager has personal and painful history against the Yorkshire club who have defied predictions to have a buoyant first season in the Premier League. It was last season that Carvalhal’s Sheffield Wednesday ran into David Wagner’s Terriers in the Championship play-offs, before Huddersfield edged the tie on penalties on their way to the Premier League.
