Ystrad Rhondda are marching on at the top of Admiral Championship East.

They have opened up a 10-point gap at the top of the table, although both Newbridge and Bargoed have games in hand.

Their last win at the weekend – a 23-19 bonus-point home win over Glamorgan Wanderers – made it eight wins out of nine.

Tries from Kurtis Williams, Morgan Burgess, Jack Dauncey and Mason Roderick secured maximum points with Rhys Truelove adding a penalty.

Morgan Williams, Finn Davies and Davon Davies got the Wanderers tries with Jacob Lloyd adding two conversions.

Newbridge nudge above Bargoed into second after running out 16-6 victors in the clash between the two sides.

Jonny Paynter scored what proved to be the only try of the match for Newbridge, which was converted by Sam Watkins, who also kicked three penalties.

Newbridge are 10 points back on Ystrad Rhondda but do have two games in hand.

Josh Prosser and Josh Parry kicked a penalty each for Bargoed – who like Newbridge also have 30 points but have played a game more.

Cross Keys defeated Penallta 34-7 while the big winners of the day in the division were Cardiff Met – who ran in eight tries, six of which came in the second half, in a thumping 54-7 home win over St Peters.

Evan Wood and Ross McKay scored in the first half for Met who led 12-7 at the break with Mike Dacey scoring a try for the visitors improved by Tom Francis.

But St Peters didn’t take their chances and were punished with Steff Davies’ second half hat-trick, alongside tries for Alex Terry, Benji Williams and Tom Weekley inspiring the Archers. Ross McKay converted seven of the eight tries.

In Championship West leaders Narberth maintained their three-point advantage at the top of the table as they defeated Ammanford 42-22 to make it eight from eight.

Dean James followed up on his hat-trick against Llangennech with two more while Ashley Sutton, Roy Osborn, Hedd Nicholas and Tom Powell were also among the scorers, Jon Rogers kicked the rest.

Elis James, Kai Richards and Sion Williams scored for Ammanford with Sam Potter adding two conversions and a penalty.

Narberth’s nearest challengers, Brecon, who do have a game in hand, made it seven wins from seven by running out 38-18 victors at Maesteg Quins.

Ifan Davies scored twice for Crymych with Ianto Davies and Elir George also going over.

The match between Newcastle Emlyn and Trebanos was abandoned after 62 minutes after an injury sustained by a Trebanos player. Emlyn were 20-9 up at the time.
