Wales host Scotland in round three of the Six Nations on Saturday, so here are the cold, hard facts.

* Scotland have won each of their last three matches against Wales in the Guinness Men’s Six Nations, as many as they’d won in their previous 19 clashes (L16); the last time Scotland won more consecutive matches against Wales in any iteration of the Championship was between 1923 and 1927 (W5).

* After winning just one of their first 10 away games against Wales in the Guinness Men’s Six Nations (L9), Scotland have since won two of their last three such matches (L1), at Parc Y Scarlets in 2020 and the Principality Stadium in 2024; Scotland will be aiming to win back-to-back away games against Wales for the first time since 1982-84.

* Wales have lost each of their last 13 Men’s Six Nations matches, including each of their last three by margins over 40 points, as often as in their first 502 games in the Championship (incl. Home/Five Nations).

* Wales have won just one of their last 14 Test matches in Cardiff (L13), a one-point victory against Japan last November (24-23), however, their most recent Six Nations win on home soil came against Scotland in 2022 (20-17).

* Scotland won their Round 2 clash against England (31-20) and could win back-to-back Six Nations games in the same year for the first time since their opening two fixtures of the 2023 Championship, when they defeated England and then Wales.

* Each of Wales’ three tries in the Men’s Six Nations this year have originated from a tap penalty, as many as every other team combined; half of Scotland’s tries have come after a lineout (3/6), also scoring from a tap penalty, a turnover and a kick return (one each).

* Scotland boast the best goal-kicking success rate in the Men’s Six Nations this year, slotting 88% (7/8) of their kicks despite having an xGK of 75%, Wales have the joint-lowest success rate (67%, also Ireland), however that is identical to their expected success rate, having attempted the most difficult kicks on average.

* Scotland have conceded just 1.7 points per 22 entry in the Men’s Six Nations this year, the fewest of any team, while Wales have conceded the most (3.2); only France (3.0) have scored more points per entry than Gregor Townsend’s side (2.4).

* The three players to hit 50+ attacking rucks in the Men’s Six Nations this year could all feature in this fixture – Scotland duo Scott Cummings (65) and Rory Darge (61) and Wales’ Dafydd Jenkins (58); Darge has also hit the most defensive rucks in this campaign (27).

* Wales’ Louis Rees-Zammit (11) and Scotland’s Kyle Steyn (10) have beaten the most defenders in the Men’s Six Nations this year, while Aaron Wainwright (Wales, 9) and Jack Dempsey (Scotland, 6) rank first and second respectively for defenders beaten by forwards.
