Head coach Rowland Phillips branded Wales Women’s 15-14 defeat to Scotland on Friday night as a disgrace.

Wales led 14-0 until just before half-time but suffered their second Six Nations defeat in a row when Sarah Law kicked a penalty with four minutes left.

Skipper Carys Phillips had crossed for Wales who also were awarded a penalty try only to suffer a first defeat against Scotland in 14 attempts.

And coach Phillips said: “Our scrum looked superior, our line-outs were good, but discipline let us down.

“It was a disgrace the way we played.

“Having got into a 14-0 lead and been very much in control, we just didn’t show the discipline you need not just to win international games, but to win a game of rugby.”

The win was Scotland’s first in the Six Nations since 2010.

And Phillips, speaking to BBC Wales Sport, added: ”Unfortunately we buckled under the pressure.

“We know they have improved and we commend them on the result, I mean that.

But everything that happened was down to our failings to actually control ourselves around the ruck area.

“We’ll have to have a look at the game because the discipline side of our game is totally unacceptable.”

Wales, beaten 63-0 by England in their previous home game, now face Ireland in Cardiff on March 11th.
