Pontypool captain Ben Parry believes his side can pull off a second successive National Cup scalp next month, after being drawn away to Cardiff in Round 2.
The Championship leaders beat Llanelli 19-11 at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday and hooker Parry believes the Gwent side can do it all again.
“It’s great to get Cardiff away,” said Parry. “We will prepare well again as we did last week and hope to pull off another scalp against a Premiership side.
“We have to beat these sides if we want to get back to the Premiership and we will certainly be up for the challenge.
“Both clubs have great history and hopefully we will be able to create some more history by making it through to the last eight.
“I expect both sides to have a good forward platform and also look to play some expansive rugby, especially on the artificial surface. Our forwards are as fit as any in the Premiership so we have nothing to fear there. We just need to focus on our own game and play in the right areas.”
Current Cup champions Llandovery have drawn Bargoed at home in the next round, while there is a West Wales derby at the Lewis Lloyd ground between Championship club Narberth and last year’s finalists Carmarthen Quins.
Current Principality Premiership champions Ebbw Vale travel to the other remaining Championship side Beddau while Pontypridd, Bedwas, Bridgend, Cross Keys welcome fellow Principality Premiership sides Newport, Merthyr, RGC 1404 and Neath.
