Kurtis Williams scored twice for the visitors alongside a Cole Morgan try and a Rhys Truelove conversion but this result ended Ystrad Rhondda’s four-game winning run.

That result allowed Bargoed to move to within five points of the summit after their 49-5 triumph over St Peter’s. First half tries from Josh Parry, Callum Jones, Morgan Edwards, skipper James Leadbeater and Morgan Powell had the bonus-point and the contest in the bag by the break for Bargoed as they raced into a 35-0 lead.

Matthew Lewis added the extras to all five tries. After the break there was a try for Adam Jones and a second for Leadbeater, with Lewis again improving both, while Jack Roberts scored a consolation try for The Rocks.

Cardiff Met are into third after their 38-31 win at Rumney. Josh Hart’s try treble inspired the Archers with Nathan Karea and Max Surry also on the scoresheet. Ross McKay kicked five conversions and a penalty.

Beddau were victorious 40-16 against Penallta, Glamorgan Wanderers and Cross Keys drew 24-24 while the game between Newbridge and Treorchy was off due to the latter being unable to raise a side.

Tom Powell and Ifan Phillips grabbed two tries apiece while Hedd Nicholas, George Rossiter, Roy Osborn, Dean James and Geraint Llewellyn also scored. Jon Rogers kicked four conversions and Ianto Griffiths two.

Meanwhile, Brecon, who have a game in hand, also continued their 100 per cent winning start, beating Tata Steel 33-22. Dafydd Edwards helped himself to a hat-trick while there was a brace for Ben Griffin. Dion McIntosh kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Third placed Llangennech won 41-17 at Trebanos thanks to Jordan Saunders’ brace and tries from Gareth George, Callum Jenkins and a penalty try. Steff Marshall kicked 14 points.

Sam Davies and Ollie Firth scored the Trebanos tries, both converted by Rhys Harris who also kicked a penalty.
