Double Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones will equal a Team GB record after being named in the taekwondo team for the Paris Olympics.

The 31-year-old will match Sarah Stevenson by competing inn her fourth Games.

“This will be my fourth Olympic Games, fifth including the Youth Olympics,” said the Flint fighter.

“This one feels extra special, almost like the very first again when I was 19!

“People don’t understand how hard it is to even quality for an Olympics, so I am super proud and can’t wait to fight my heart out for GB and myself once again.”

Jones shot to sporting prominence by winning her first Olympic gold – and becoming Britain’s first Taekwondo champ at a Games aged just 19 – in London 2012 before incredibly repeating the feat in Rio four years later.

But she was left gutted after missing out in 2021 at the delayed Tokyo Games but now has another crack at an unprecedented third gold medal.

The taekwondo events will take place at the Grand Palais in Paris over three days from 7 August to 10 August.
