- Evan Mosey’S In As Devils Move Quick To Find New Blood
Former Nottingham Panthers ace Evan Mosey has joined Cardiff Devils following the departure of Ben Blood.
The Devils have moved quick to sign the Illinois-Born defenceman just 24 hours after Blood’s shock move to Finland.
Mosey has been playing in Denmark this season making 15 appearances for Herning Blue Fox having joined in the summer following his departure from the Panthers.
“Mosey is one of the fastest skaters we have seen in this league and he can play forward and defence, which is a huge plus. He has an impressive skillset and will fit in well to the style we play in Cardiff,” said Devils chief Andrew Lord.
“This is a big day for us, yesterday we lost a great player in Ben Blood and today we signed another great player to fill that void.”
The 29-year-old scored 22 goals and 22 assists in 55 games, splitting time between forward and defence. Prior to that, he spent a year in the American Hockey League in Rockford playing for the top farm team of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Mosey first came to the UK for the 2014-15 season when he joined the Panthers for two seasons, winning an Erhardt Conference Title, a Challenge Cup and a Playoff Championship in that time.
And Devils fans will need little reminding that it was Mosey who scored the winner in the 2016 Challenge Cup Final to beat the Devils in 2016.
Mosey who holds a British passport, broke his leg while preparing to play with Team GB last April and missed the World Championships.
He spent the summer recovering and getting back to full fitness, but he is raring to go with the Devils.
The Devils are working on his paperwork and will hopefully have him in the line-up for this weekend’s games, away to Milton Keynes on Saturday and Belfast at home on Sunday. Mosey will wear number 23 for the Devils.
Lord’s men will be looking to get back to winning ways with Wednesday night’s defeat against Fife Flyer – just hours after Bloo left – making it three defeats on the trot.
