WRGB Raising More Funds For Great Causes In North Wales

This year’s Dayinsure Wales Rally GB (4-7 October) will again support charities and good causes across north Wales, taking the total raised in the six years since the World Championship event moved to its current home in Deeside, Flintshire to more than £200,000.

For the third year in succession, Hope House Children’s Hospices – consisting of Ty Gobaith in Conwy and its Oswestry-based Morda sister hospice – have been confirmed as the rally’s Official Charity Partner. In addition, the event works with local schools, clubs and other volunteer groups to staff the event’s temporary car parks, generated much-needed funds for the local areas hosting the rally.

“We are keen to support the great work carried out by those at Ty Gobaith as much as we possibly can,” explained Dayinsure Wales Rally GB partnership manager Alun Pritchard. “We will obviously look to raise as much money as possible and will be collecting donations from spectators throughout all four days of the event, but we can also help in other ways, such as giving siblings of Ty Gobaith children the chance to present trophies to the finishers on Sunday.”

Every online ticket purchaser is given the chance to make a voluntary donation to the charity – an organisation which needs to raise as much as £6.3 million every year to support those children in the region with life limiting and life threatening conditions.

“The amazing support of Dayinsure Wales Rally GB really helps as it’s vital we continue to raise funds to support local children and families when they need us most,” said Hope House Children’s Hospices area fundraiser Beverley Bradley. “Sadly, three local children die each week and currently Hope House can only afford to help one of these families. We are committed to changing this.”

Ty Gobaith children, siblings and parents also gave the on-going partnership a big ‘thumbs up’ when local rally star Jade Paveley recently set pulses racing by bringing her competition-prepared Subaru to the hospice for all to see.

“This event isn’t just about rallying, it’s about supporting local communities and if Ty Gobaith benefits from additional support through the charity partnership that has to be a good thing,” said Paveley who is currently competing at the front of the Welsh Tarmac Championship.

“I work at North Wales Honda, my dad’s dealership, which is based in Llandudno so being from the area I know how important Ty Gobaith is to the community. I really enjoyed meeting children who benefit from the hospice as well as some of the siblings and parents. It was a humbling experience learning a little about the amazing work that goes on and seeing what a warm and happy place Ty Gobaith is.”

Adult admission starts from just £15 (including fees) when purchased in advance with on the gate tickets priced at £30 subject to availability. Accompanied children aged 15 and under are admitted free to general admission areas.

Local organisations raising funds in 2018 by operating the event’s temporary car parks include: Abergele Rugby Club, Betws-y-Coed Fishing Club, Ysgol Cerrigydrudion, Clwyd Young Farmers, COBRA Rugby Club, Conwy Rugby Union Club, Dolgellau Rugby Club, Friends of Dyffryn Banw CP School, Llanidloes Rotary Club, Machynlleth Rugby Club, Meirionnydd Young Farmers, Menter Cymunedol Mynach Cyf, Newtown Rugby Club and Penmachno School.
