Welsh World Champion Jack Returning To Viola Arena

Newly-crowned Welsh World champion Jack Shore is returning to Cardiff Bay for his next contest.

The man from Abertillery, fighting out of dad Richard’s Tillery gym, is the Cage Warriors World bantamweight champion, having dominated London’s Mike Ekundayo on his feet and on the mat to earn a devastating TKO in the third round.

That came during CW100 at Viola Arena, home of the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team, and organisers quickly announced a return to the area Shore says is ‘the best I’ve competed in’.

The next event, CW104, has been scheduled for Saturday, April 27 with Shore on the bill.

He has a perfect record of nine wins from nine fights – eight of those finishes – and his success against Ekundayo, who also went into the clash having won every fight, was a massive moment for Welsh cage fighting.

CW 100 was a night that will go down in Welsh fighting history. 

After 16 years of MMA history, it was the biggest Cage Warriors card of all time to mark their 100th event (CW 100). 

Now Cage Warriors are planning another huge event at the Viola Arena in April – and Shore loves fighting in front of big attendances. 

Cage Warriors president Graham Boyland has an eye for talent having seen the likes of former UFC champions Conor McGregor, Michael Bisping and Joanna Jedrzejczyk all make their names under the Cage Warriors banner before entering the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The Viola Arena has a 3,000-plus capacity, almost three times Cage Warriors’ former home at Newport Centre and Shore says: “They obviously had a bit of faith in me to bump the venue up, they know I can pull a crowd.”

Next up for Cage Warriors is their return to Liverpool for CW101 on Saturday, February 16.

CW are Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion and have confirmed four new shows over in the New Year –  Liverpool, London, Copenhagen and the Viola Arena, Cardiff Bay.

This year took Cage Warriors across the continent, from five locations in the UK to Gothenburg, Sweden and Antwerp, Belgium with a total of 11 shows.
