Lauren Price will bid to add another gold medal to her growing collection at the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Hungary on Friday.

Despite being out of the ring for 16 months, middleweight Price has reached the final in Debrecen so it guaranteed at least silver.

Wales’s World, Commonwealth Games and European champ beat Italy’s Assunta Canfora by split decision in Thursday’s semi-final.

Price last competed in October 2019 when she was crowned world champ but she followed up her victory on Wednesday over Gabriele Stonkute with another triumph.

The Newport fighter is using the tournament as another stepping stone to Tokyo this summer when she will be looking to claim the ultimate prize of Olympic Games gold.

Price will not be the only Welsh medalist in Hungary this week with Rosie Eccles taking bronze.

The Caldicot welterweight lost her semi-final on Thursday to Busenaz Surmeneli, with her Turkish opponent taking a split decision victory after a bruising bout.

But it is a first medal for Eccles since winning bronze at the 2019 Women’s European Games in Spain.
