Coach Zak Jones praised Wales’ spirit after they maintained an unbeaten World League Rd 2 record with a comeback win against Scotland.

Wales were trailing 2-1 at half-time but levelled in the final quarter through Gareth Furlong.

And Jones’ side dominated the shoot-out 4-2 to see off Scotland having beaten Poland in their opening match.

Jones said: “I’m really proud of the guys and the resilience, spirit and composure they showed.

‘We feel like we didn’t play very well in the first half but credit must go to Scotland for putting us under pressure in that period.

“However, we regrouped at half time, put in a much improved performance in the second half and then the guys taking the shuttles showed great composure and skill to win the shootout.

“It is a huge positive that once again we managed to come through a tough examination but there is still plenty to improve upon.”

Wales finish their Pool B programme against France in Belfast on Tuesday having beaten them in a series in Paris recently and can relish a quarter-finals spot.
