Thomas Hails Incredible Three Weeks As Froome Triumphs In Tour De France

Geraint Thomas has hailed Chris Froome’s Tour de France victory adding it was amazing to be part of his team-mate’s triumph again.

The Welsh flier crossed the line next to Froome as all nine Team Sky riders finished alongside each other.

Thomas eventually finished 15th overall after the three-week trek with fellow Cardiff born rider Luke Rowe 151st.

The duo had both been vital to Froome’s third win in four years and Team Sky’s fourth in the past five years.

Thomas, 30, said: ”Even though Froomey is the one that wins it and gets all the plaudits on the podium, we all go through so much together.

“Everyone in the world of cycling knows how much it is a team sport as well as individual.

“It’s just amazing to be a part of. It’s been an incredible few weeks really.

“Everyone has been talking about it but the strength of the team has been phenomenal.

“We had five climbers basically to support Froomey, all of us have led big races individually, and we’ve all come together.

“It’s one thing having strong individuals but it’s another thing riding well together and there were no egos, we committed for each other, every day we rode for Froomey and it paid off.”

Thomas will now set his focus on the Olympic Games in Rio where he will compete in the road race and time trial.
