Swim Wales Launch Unique Virtual Super Series For Welsh Swimmers

Swim Wales has launched a unique virtual series for swimmers missing the thrill of competition.

The Super Series is open to all age groups as well as masters and Para swimmers belonging to a Welsh club.

Swim Wales – which has been running competitions every year for 123 years – hope the series will add that competitive edge to swimmers’ training over the coming months given the COVID-19 restrictions on poolside events.

Taking place over three stages (each a week long) swimmers will have three chances of submitting their fastest race time aiming to move up the virtual leaderboard.

The top eight in each age group will qualify for the Super Final with the winners announced on Christmas Eve.

 

“The Super Series will provide an innovative and exciting competitive experience for swimmers across Wales while adhering to the current Welsh Government regulations,” said Ross Nicholas, Swim Wales’ National Performance Director.

“It will undoubtedly motivate our swimmers to continue to work hard in training, both in the pool and on land, and enable them and their coaches to set clear performance goals and targets.

Welsh swimmer Calum Jarvis has competed at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

“Ultimately it will provide swimmers with a fantastic opportunity to test themselves against not only their own personal goals but also against their peers across the competitive swimming network in Wales through the virtual leader board.”

The leaderboard will be published at the end of each of the three weeks with the top eight qualifying for the Super Final.
