Storm Emma has struck a blow in Cardiff Bay – and forced another Storm to stay away.

Cardiff Devils were scheduled to play Manchester Storm in a crucial Elite League fixture on Friday, but that clash has been postponed.

The match was a 3,000-plus sell-out, but the bad weather across Britain means it cannot go ahead.

“The weather is too severe for Manchester Storm to travel,” said Devils managing director Todd Kelman.

“It also isn’t fair or safe for a number of supporters of both clubs to try and get here in these conditions.”

The game has been rearranged for Wednesday, March 21 (7:30pm) at Ice Arena Wales.

All tickets for Friday’s game will be valid for the game on the new date.

Sunday’s Challenge Cup final between Devils and Belfast Giants at the IAW in Cardiff Bay is expected to go ahead (6pm).

Rugby fixtures involving Cardiff Blues (v Benetton), Ospreys (Zebre) and Scarlets (v Leinster) have also been postponed.

Matches involving Newport County (v Accrington Stanley) and Wrexham (v Ebbsfleet United) are also off.

In North Wales the Huws Gray Alliance three fixtures have been postponed and others are in doubt.

Guilsfield v Denbigh Town, Ruthin Town v Penrhyncoch and Porthmadog v Holywell Town are off.

Prestatyn v Barry Town has been postponed at Welsh Premier League level, while Welsh League fixtures could also face disruption.
