- St Mellons Triumphant In South Wales Squash Play Off Final
St Mellons have won the South Wales Squash League Premier championship.
Former British Open champion David Evans and his St Mellons team emerged 4-1 winners in the play-off match against Rhiwbina SRC.
Peter Creed earned victory at number one for Rhiwbina, beating Emyr Evans, while David Evans, Ricky Davies, Dan Bergin and Tesni Evans led St Mellons to victory.
Play-off match results (Rhiwbina first): Peter Creed beat Emyr Evans 3-1; James Peach lost to David Evans 0-3; Chris Adrian lost to Rickie Davies 0-3; Matthew Crowley lost to Dan Bergin 1-3; Jason Foster lost to Tesni Evans 0-3.
Rhiwbina Squash Club is the venue for a 10,000 dollars men’s professional tournament to be played between Tuesday, May 23 and Sunday, May 28.
Peter Creed from the home club is the second seed for the Rhiwbina Welsh National Open Championships with England’s Joshua Masters number one. They are at 65 and 59 respectively in the World rankings.

Wales currently have junior squash teams in Prague for the European Under-15 and under-17 championships.
The Welsh team for the younger age level is Rhys Evans, Dan Lewis , Tate Harms , Bronte Wright , Lucy Jones, while the under-17 line-up is Lewis Poole, Srikar Mummidi, Ryan Lewis, Ciara Richards, Megan Thomas.
Sam Todd, aged 14 and from Yorkshire, leads England’s under-17 team at the European Championships.
He is joined by British Junior Open under-17 finalist Elise Lazarus, Ben Sockett, Lewis Anderson and Alice Green.
England’s under-15 team is Adam Goad, Ben Smith, Hassan Khalil, Katie Malliff, Torrie Malik.
