Seb Salvages Super Score After Silverstone Stalls

Seb Morris helped Team Parker Racing salvage a top five finish in the Pro-Am class during a luckless second round of the Blancpain Endurance Cup season at Silverstone on Sunday.

With a combination of an untimely Full Course Yellow period early in the race, and a major issue with multiple stalls for the Bentley Continental GT3 as Morris tried to leave the pits ahead of the final stint, genuine hopes of a challenge for Pro-Am victory evaporated.

Even so, the 23-year old Wrexham-born driver produced a typically professional performance during the last hour of action. Circulating as much as four seconds a lap quicker than the cars around him while running sixth in class, Morris was able to overturn a deficit of more than 40 seconds in the space of just 15 minutes to catch and pass for fifth, which he then held to the chequered flag.

“What happened in the pits was such a shame, we’re still trying to find out what exactly happened as the car stalled nine or ten times when I tried to leave the pits and that cost us a huge amount of time,” said Morris. “Unfortunately, it just looks like bad luck again, which has been the story of our season in Blancpain so far this year.

“We looked at how much time we lost and we can see we could have won Pro-Am this weekend, with that loss deducted. It’s frustrating, but we just have to get on with the rest of the season now and hope that’s all the bad luck out of the way. Our pace was fantastic, I set a purple first sector and we were the fastest Pro-Am car, so that shows again we have a good car, good pace, but no luck!”

Round three of the Blancpain Endurance Cup season will take place on 1 June at Paul Ricard in France. Before then, Morris will be back in action in the British GT Championship for rounds three and four of its season at Snetterton in Norfolk this weekend (18-19 May).
