Rowe Impresses Again As He Sprints To Fourth In Australia

Luke Rowe sprinted to fourth place on the third stage of the Herald Sun Tour in Australia.

The Cardiff-born rider led the charge for Team Sky after team-mate Danny van Poppel was caught up in one of two big crashes.

Rowe’s fourth spot followed up his victory on stage two which was his first since the 2012 Tour of Britain.

Three-time Tour de France champ Chris Froome has worked bring back a breakaway before he also crashed.

It was UnitedHealthcare rider Travis McCabe who took the sprint at at Mitchelton Winery with Rowe given the same time.

The 26-year-old said: “Only us and JLT Condor seemed to want to bring it back for a sprint today. So it was a big workload for the boys.

“You’ve got a three-time Tour de France winner riding on the front to bring it back for a bunch sprint which was impressive to see.

“It was touch and go but everyone bought in and we brought it back with a few kilometres to go.

“I was perfectly positioned with Danny with a kilometre and a half to go but unfortunately he went down in the crash.”
