Rosie Eccles is guaranteed her second medal of 2021 after reaching the semi-finals of the Belgrade Winner tournament in Serbia.

Wales’ 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medalist guaranteed herself a medal after beating Balzhan Askar.

The Kazakhstan boxer was withdrawn at the end of the second round of their quarter-final bout.

Eccles will now face local boxer Aleksandra Rapaic for a place in the final of the women’s welterweight division on Sunday night.

The 24-year-old from Caldicot won bronze at the Bocskai event in Budapest earlier this year.

Wales’ world champ Lauren Price was originally named in the Team GB team for Belgrade, but was a late withdrawal.

The tournament is part of the squad’s preparations for the forthcoming European Olympic qualifier in Paris (4-8 June 2021).
