Rising Welsh Golf Star Ffion Bags Another Top Finish

Rising Wales star Ffion Tynan was the best Under 16 at the English Girls’ Open Amateur Championship, with two Wales players in the top ten of the Under 18 event. Tynan, from Pontyclun, finished tied seventh overall, with Newport Links’ Cary Worby one shot further back tied ninth in a strong showing for the Wales pair.

Rising Wales star Ffion Tynan was the best Under 16 at the English Girls’ Open Amateur Championship, with two Wales players in the top ten of the Under 18 event.

Tynan, from Pontyclun, finished tied seventh overall, with Newport Links’ Carys Worby one shot further back tied ninth in a strong showing for the Wales pair.

Tynan started slowly with rounds of 74 and 75, but rounds of 70 and 72 to finish propelled her up the leaderboard, in the vent won overall by Germany’s Marie Bechtold.

“I battled hard this week through sickness and was really pleased to finished tied seventh and happy to pick up the best U16 award,” said Tynan.
