Mark Richardson has agreed a deal to stay with Cardiff Devils for a 10th season.

The Swindon-born defenceman has been a key player for the Devils and hit four goals and 16 assists after playing all 64 games last season.

Richardson, 29, has signed on just weeks after helping Great Britain win World Championship silver in Croatia.

Player/coach Andrew Lord said of the signing: “I don’t think this signing comes as a shock to anyone, he has been here for 10 years for a reason.

“Mark is as solid as they come in terms of a two-way defenceman, he skates so well and is great defensively.

“He is one of the most dialed in player in terms of keeping in shape and looking after himself that I have ever worked with.

“His consistency is his greatest asset for us, you just know what you are going to get every game from him. We are very pleased to have him back for another season.

“Richardson has served as one of the captains the last few seasons and leads by example. He brings dedication and a great work ethic to the rink every day, something that is infectious for his teammates.”
