Oliver Farr Earns Best European Tour Finish . . . And £47,000

Oliver Farr achieved his best finish on the European Tour – and biggest pay day – with a tie for third place at the Hero Open at the Forest of Arden Golf Club, near Coventry.

The Welsh golfer, who spent time growing up in the Midlands, enjoyed his most impressive performance on the tour so far at the age of 32 and took home prize money of £47,000.

Farr’s third placing alongside Chris Paisley from England and Swede Alexander Bjork came after a consistent display at the tournament which was won on Sunday by England’s Sam Horsfield.

The current Welsh No.1 had a final round 71 which took him to 14 under, four shots adrift of Horsfield, with Belgium’s Thomas Detry in second place on 17 under.

In a tight final round, Farr eagled the par 5 7th and held second place on his own until the 11th where his tee shot ended off the fairway on the right, behind trees, which led him to record a double bogey.

A long putt on the par 5 17th saved his par after he had put his second shot in the water attacking the pin which had been cut tight to the lake.

An excellent long putt from the front to the back of the green on the 18th gave him a tap in putt for his par to finish on 1 under for the day.

A three-time winner on the Challenge Tour, Farr’s previous best European Tour finish was tied-seventh at the Shot Clock Masters in 2018.
