Cardiff Fire take on a major ice hockey challenge at the Viola Arena in Cardiff Bay this evening.

Head coach Mark Smith and his Fire players, who scored eight goals against Lee Valley Lions on Saturday, now entertain National League leaders Chelmsford Chieftains on Sunday (6pm).

The visitors have won 14 of their 16 fixtures this season, scoring 527 goals.

Ross Brears has netted 25 goals and added 33 assists, while James Ayling’s points tally is 41 points (19+22).

Chieftains also have on Bradley Moore (13+15=28) and Grant Bartlett’s total is (15+12=27).

Fire are intent on qualifying for the play-offs and are hoping for a big attendance when Chieftains come calling this evening.

This is a first home match of the season for Fire and they are focused on causing an upset against a Chelmsford team who have set their hearts on winning the NIHL Division Two South title.
