Ladies European Tour star Carly Booth was on hand at Ryder Cup venue Celtic Manor to see some of the best young golfers in Wales.

The Scottish golfer was at the finals of the Wales Mini Masters, to cap of a record-breaking year for the event.

The competition is for junior golfers in Wales who are not members of clubs or have recently become members of clubs, with a handicap higher than 28.

More than 300 players from more than 50 clubs all round Wales have taken part in the competition this year, with the final held in unusually good weather at Celtic Manor.

There was a triple celebration for Gwent club Bryn Meadows with Lacey Williams winning the Girls 12 and over, while clubmate Cameron Hughes won the Boys 8-9 category. Girls 10-11 winner Lowri Davies is from Mountain Ash, but receives lessons at Bryn Meadows.

Wales Mini Masters is supported by Wales Golf and The Celtic Manor Resort as part of the continued legacy from the Ryder Cup in Wales, along with Volvik,

“It was great to see so much good golf played in the finals,” said event organiser Andrew Jones.

“We sometimes get a bit of rain for the finals, so to play in such good weather made a nice change.

“Congratulations to all the winners, but this is also an event to celebrate everyone who takes part.”
