Head coach Andrew Lord is putting his faith in four-line hockey as Cardiff Devils focus on winning more trophies in 2018-19.

Reigning Elite League champions Devils, who also won the play-offs last season, defeated Glasgow Clan 8-1 at home on Sunday and take on Dundee Stars away this evening.

Scottish forward Craig Moore, Welsh centre Matthew Myers and Latvian-born Toms Rutkis, a 20-year-old originally from Riga, all scored goals against Clan and Lord said: “Craig and Toms have been training incredibly hard and it’s fun to see them playing so well.

“They didn’t see much ice time in the Champions League and early League fixtures, but we recognised more depth was needed and since then have used four lines a bit more.

“Hard work pays off and they have proved it. They’ve stuck it to me a little bit.

“Matthew centres that line superbly. What can you say about the guy? He could easily play up the lines, but he’s a veteran who is taking care of those guys along the line.

“They are all playing exceptionally well.”

Dundee v Devils is one of four midweek matches in League and Challenge Cup.

That fixture at Dundee Ice Arena is a fifth match in seven nights for Stars, while Devils are looking for a fourth win in five League games.

Manchester Storm are at home against Nottingham Panthers in a cup group games at Planet Ice Altrincham tonight, while Belfast Giants are at home against Milton Keynes Lightning in the league on Friday.
