Lewis Stuns ‘Snakebite’ Wright In Darts Shock

Jamie Lewis produced the biggest win of his career after sending No 2 seed Peter Wright crashing out of the PDC World Darts Championship.

The 26-year-old from Carmarthen triumphed 4-1 in the second round match at London’s Ally Pally.

Lewis said: “I cannot believe it. I was hoping to give him a good game but I did not expect to beat him.

“It’s the best I have played in the PDC – and on a stage like that.

“It probably will not sink in until tomorrow.

“It’s always been there and the last few weeks I thought ‘go for it’.

“I’ve started to believe in myself a lot more and obviously it’s working.

Lewis, world ranked No 46, had come through the preliminaries and the first round before facing the Scotsman who was runner-up in 2014.

But ‘Snakebite’ Wright had no answer to the Welsh ace who hit 13 180s in the match, was more clinical with his doubles and produced three incredible finishes on the bullseye.

Lewis averaged 107.67 and his highest checkout was 125.

He will now face James Richardson in the last 16 having reached the third round for the first time in his career.
