Lauren Price booked her ticket to the quarter-finals of the World Championships in India as she outboxed Ireland’s Aiofe O’Rourke in her preliminary round contest. Newport’s Commonwealth Games champ beat the Roscommon fighter by a unanimous decision in New Delhi in the 75Kg category.

Lauren Price booked her ticket to the quarter-finals of the World Championships in India as she outboxed Ireland’s Aiofe O’Rourke in her preliminary round contest.

Price will face Poland’s Elzbieta Wojcki in the last eight round on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old was one of two Welsh fighters competing at the worlds.

Team-mate Rosie Eccles bowed out in her 69kg preliminary round contest on a  split decision (4-1) to Myriam Karine Da Silva Rondeau of Canada.
