Wales’ No 1 was beaten 21-17, 21-11 by No 5 seed Qi Xuefei of France in a 36-minute last 16 contest in the $90,000 BWF Tour Super 100 tournament.

The Haverfordwest-born player had beaten Denmark’s Amalie Schulz 21-9, 21-12 in her first round to reach the last 16 for the second tournament in a row since badminton resumed following COVID-19 suspension.

Hart made Welsh badminton history last month when she became the first woman to reach the second round of a BWF World Tour Super 750 singles event.

The 25-year-old beat Germany’s Miranda Wilson before losing to eventual winner Nozomi Okuhara in the round of 16 at the Odense Park.
