Dale Hutchinson scored as Wales opened their international series against the USA with an impressive 1-1 draw in Spain.

The Cardiff-born forward’s goal helped the Dragons to a share of the spoils on Friday afternoon in Barcelona.

It was the first of three Wales are playing against the United States who are ranked five places above them in the world at No 29.

The games will be vital preparation for the World League Rd 2 which takes place in Belfast from March 11-19th.

Head Coach Zak Jones said of the series: ”It has been a few years since we have played the USA and we are really looking forward to the challenge they will present.

“The group are also really looking forward to some warm weather training and getting the final WL2 preparation phase underway.

“This trip gives us the perfect opportunity to reinforce the behaviours, and build on the tactics that we have been developing over the past 12 months.

“It will not only be a good measure of where we currently stand, but also help us to identify the key areas we still need to improve on prior to WL2 in March.”
