Former Cardiff Devils forward Paul Crowder is the latest Elite League Player of the Week.

Canadian Crowder, who helped Devils win the Elite League title and play-off championships last season, is now playing for Fife Flyers.

He scored four goals and an assist to help Fife into second place in the Elite table and extend their winning league run to six.

Former Cincinnati Cyclones and Fort Wayne Comets forward Crowder returns to South Wales this Sunday when Fife take on Cardiff Devils at Ice Arena Wales (6pm).

The Scottish club travel to Sheffield Steelers tomorrow (Wednesday) before entertaining Nottingham Panthers on Saturday and then head south to Cardiff.

“Nottingham have been going well, while Sheffield is always a tough place to go and Cardiff have a great team,” he says. “It’s one we’ll be ready for.
“It’s always fun to play against your old team and it will be interesting to see how that pans out, especially being on the other end of things.
“It might be a mixed reception from the Cardiff fans so we’ll see how it goes on Sunday.”
Crowder reckons Fife’s 6-3 win over Guildford Flames on Saturday helped set the mood for the return game at the Spectrum on Sunday, which Flyers also won 6-5.
“Winning on Saturday was a big help in setting us up for Sunday,” he said. “It was tough for them having to come up and then travel back down again.  It must have been like two road games.

“It was a tough one in Guildford and they are a difficult team to play against so it was nice to get one over  them in our barn the night before.
“Things seem to be going our way. It’s always fun when you’re on a high, but the coaches are keeping us in check.
“It seems to be clicking for me personally too, which is a bit of a bonus.

“It’s funny when things go your way. Everything seems to snowball and with things going well in general, it’s all good just now.”
Crowder is on something of a streak at the moment, scoring seven with 10 assists in his last eight appearances, averaging two points per game on his current run.

Head coach Andrew Lord and his Devils won’t even think about their home fixture against Fife until after their Champions Hockey League clash with Swedish title winners Vaxjo Lakers this evening (Tuesday, 7.30pm) and the visit of Sheffield Steelers to Cardiff Bay on Saturday (7pm).

Tickets are on sale for Devils’ three successive home fixtures. They play Lakers on Tuesday in the CHL (7.30pm) following by Sheffield on Saturday (7pm) and Fife the next evening (6pm).
