Goals ace Guillaume Doucet has vowed Cardiff Devils will maintain momentum through to the end of this season.

Devils have won the Elite League title and Challenge Cup, while they can clinch the Erhardt Conference championship this weekend.

They have back-to-back League matches against second-placed Belfast Giants at Ice Arena Wales on Saturday (7pm) and Sunday (6pm). One win will clinch the Conference top spot.

Coach Andrew Lord’s men will then focus on the end-of-season play-offs and Doucet says: “We’ll be playing with intensity right through to the end.

“That’s what we do, that’s what we will always do as a team. Andrew Lord is big about doing things the right way and I don’t see us letting go. We have a great group of guys who care about each other and we’ll keep going to the end.

“You saw it against Fife Flyers. The game didn’t mean anything in terms of winning the league or conference, but we came out and hard and earned a 6-1 win.

“We have a great group of guys who work hard and we’ve played well as a team all season. We have the Conference and play-offs to go for and we’ll give it everything over these last couple of weeks.

“It’s awesome to be part of this team. The people of Cardiff have waited for a long time to see their team crowned champions and the fans deserve to have a winning team.”

Former Hull Stingrays and Nottingham Panthers forward Doucet, who has scored 43 goals over the last two seasons for Devils, is celebrating his first Elite League title and is hungry for more success.

Both of Cardiff’s clashes with Belfast are certain to be 3,000-plus sell-outs.

Devils will turn to the end-of-season play-offs next week with the home leg of their quarter-final at Ice Arena Wales on Saturday, April 1 (7pm). They are guaranteed to be top seeds in the play-offs, but won’t know who they play until after this weekend’s fixtures.

Devils netminder Thomas Murdy has been called up by Great Britain.

Murray, who was outstanding for Devils against Fife last Sunday, has replaced injured Jackson Whistle (Belfast Giants).

GB have a training camp plus two matches against Poland during April.

They are at the National Ice Centre on Friday, April 14 (7.30pm) and the following day in Coventry’s Skydome (1pm).

The camp and two games form part of both teams’ preparations for their respective World Championship tournaments with GB playing on home ice in Belfast from April 23 to April 29.
