Gerwyn Pris survived three match darts to win a seven set semi-final thriller at the Boyle Sports World Grand Prix in Coventry.

The 35-year-old’s victory over Dave Chisnall kept him on course for the £110,ooo winner’s cheque that would take him to No 2 in the world.

Price looked on course to romp into the final against 200/1 outsider Dirk van Duijvenbode after taking a 3-1 lead.

But Chisnall hit back with back-to-back sets to tie the semi at 3-3.

And the deciding set went to the wire with Chisnall having the arrows to take the victory.

But The Iceman kept his cool to win the deciding leg and move closer to a fourth title in five attempts.

“I was thinking it’s not going to be my night, even at 3-1 up. I think Dave’s nine lives run out,” said the Markham marksman.

Holland’s van Duijvenbode reached the final with  4-1 victory  over Simon Whitlock.

The 28-year-old was the lowest-ranked player going into the tournament at 73 on the PDC Order of Merit.

Price will move to No 2 on the Order of Merit behind Michael van Gerwen if he wins at the Ricoh Arena on Monday.
