Gerwyn Price Sends Out Storm Warning After Breezing Past A Hurricane

Gerwyn Price stormed into the quarter-finals of the Boyle Sports World Grand Prix after breezing past Kim ‘The Hurricane’ Huybrechts.

The 35-year-old triumphed 3-0 after a tight first leg against the Belgian at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.

Price averaged over 96 in the last 16 clash to set-up a game against Jeffrey de Zwaan on Saturday.

The Markman marksman will move to No 2 in the world if he pockets the £110,000 winner’s cheque.

“On my day I could be No 1 and could be the best,” said The Iceman, who has won three of his last four tournaments.

“The first leg I thought I was going to bomb it but I was a lot better than I was in the first round.

“I can improve on today and I will be a lot more confident after that.

“I just want to win every game that I can.”

Dutch darter de Zwaan, the Black Cobra, reached the last eight after seeing off Gabriel Clemens 3-0.

But there was Grand Prix heartache for Jonny Clayton after he staged a fightback in his last 16 match against his pal Joe Cullen.

The Pontyberem thrower levelled at 2-2 after losing the first two sets, picking up just one leg.

But after taking the fifth set into a decisive final leg where he had the advantage of the arrows, he saw Cullen seal a 3-2 win.
