New world champ Price swept past Joe Cullen 10-3 in his first match since his historic title success the title earlier this month.

And Clayton stunned Michael van Gerwen as he dumped the former world No 1 out of the tournament for the second year running with a thrilling 10-9 victory.

Markham’s Price showed why he is the world’s best with a clinical demolition of Cullen.

The Iceman may have had a few weeks off since his world champs victory.

But he was right back in the groove as he averaged 104.37 in his comprehensive win to book a last eight spot against Adrian Lewis.

And Price was joined in the quarters later by Pontyberem’s Clayton with whom he won the World Cup of Darts last year.

Clayton produced a 14-darter to seal the victory over the Dutchman in the deciding leg of the best of 19-battle.

He faces James Wade in the quarters.
