The teams were locked at 2-2 after 60 minutes in their Elite League clash before Fournier struck 28 seconds into overtime.

Devils scored first at Dundee Ice Arena after a bad bounce resulted in Stephen Dixon taking possession in front of the net and he put the puck between the legs of goalie Pontus Sjogren to make it 1-0 at six minutes 35 seconds.

Three minutes into the middle period the Devils powerplay went to work and doubled their lead. Charles Linglet scored after Sjogren made a big save from Joey Martin, but the rebound left the puck loose.

Linglet tapped in at 23-04 to make it 2-0.

Stars powerplay pulled them back within a goal when Jordan Cownie scored at 35-31 and then Devils hit the net again only for the effort to be ruled out when Sean Bentivoglio was called for interference at 39-02.

On the resulting powerplay Cownie scored his second goal to tie the game at 2-2 with 37 seconds left in the second period.

Devils had two powerplay chances in the final period, but could not convert with the man advantage and the game remained tied at 2-2 after 60 minutes.

Just 11 seconds into overtime Cownie was called for hooking and as the boos rang out in Devils went on the powerplay and Fournier made quick work of the man advantage.

He skated through the Dundee defence and rifled the puck over Sjogren’s shoulder to win the game 28 seconds into extra time.
