Glasgow Clan have signed former Cardiff Devils goals ace Guillaume Doucet for the rest of this season.

Canadian winger Doucet, who scored 43 goals in two seasons with Devils, is not in the Clan squad for this Challenge Cup quarter-final clash with Cardiff at the Viola Arena this evening.

The 32-year-old forward joins Glasgow from Alps Hockey League team Milano Rossoblu where he started the season.

Doucet is no stranger to the Elite League, having initially joined the Hull Stingrays back in 2013 before going onto to play for Nottingham Panthers and Devils.

Last season the Canadian iced for the Milton Keynes Lightning under current Clan head coach Pete Russell.

“I am delighted to add forward Guillaume Doucet to our group,” says Russell. “We are lucky to add a player of Guillaume’s calibre at this stage of the season.

“I have worked with ‘Douce’ before and know his character and game very well. He scores goals everywhere he goes. He is a sniper and finds good spots, works hard for the team and is a great team-mate.

“To pick-up a right shot forward is a big bonus for us as we’ve been looking for one for a while. When I reached out to ‘Douce’ to see what his situation was, we completed the deal in a couple of hours on Wednesday.

“He is excited to be coming to Glasgow and back to the UK.

“Douce will bring a different punch to our offence. He is an honest player on and off the ice. The guys in our locker room and the Purple Army will love him.”

Doucet, who will wear number 52, flies into the UK next week ahead of Clan’s pre-Christmas games against Fife and Sheffield.
