Elliott Morris-Devred and Lowri Roberts were crowned South Glamorgan squash champions at the Wales National Sports Centre in Cardiff.

Former Barry Comprehensive School pupil Morris-Devred won the men’s A title, beating Rhondda’s Liam Eason in the final.

Both players are 19-years-old and battled through to the final in different ways.

Morris-Devred progressed without losing a set, overcoming Kieran Hillman comfortably in their semi-final, while Eason fought out a five-set clash with Lewis Poole.

Eason fought back from two games down to win 11-13, 10-12, 12-10, 11-5, 11-9.

The trophy was won by Morris-Devred 3-0 (11-4, 11-3, 11-2).

Cardiff University law student Roberts, from Bodelwyddan, Conwy, defeated Aberdare’s Ciara Richards 15-13, 4-11, 11-7, 11-7 in the women’s final.

More than 80 players took part in the championships over the weekend.

Cardiff Met students competed in the South Glam Championships and Elliott Fenner won the men’s D title, while Ben Skidmore was men’s A plate runner-up.

Connor Feakin’s bid for success ended when he suffered concussion in his second match.

The Welsh Junior Championships are held in Cardiff this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, while the senior national championships, which were due to be played this month, will now be played in March.

South Glamorgan Squash Championship finals:

Men’s A: Elliot Morris-Devred beat Liam Eason 11-4, 11-3, 11-2.

Men’s A plate: Ian Fenner-Evans beat Ben Skidmore 11-4, 4-11, 11-6, 11-5.

Men’s B: Canaan Brown beat Simon Kilshaw 4-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-4.

Men’s B plate: Gary Fry beat James Powell 8-11, 11-6, 11-4, 8-11, 11-9.

Men’s C: Joe Eason beat James King 11-6, 11-2, 11-6.

Men’s C plate: Ryan Tyler beat Robin Patterson 11-7, 11-5, 4-11, 12-10.

Men’s D: Elliott Jones beat Ian Robinson 2-11, 11-7, 11-2, 6-11, 11-8.

Men’s D plate: Alan James beat Clive Chard 11-5, 11-4, 11-7.

Men’s E: Marco Perna beat Anthony Williams 3-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-8.

Men’s E plate: Paddy Tyler beat Rob Wilde 11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8.

Women’s A: Lowrie Roberts beat Ciara Richards 15-13, 4-11, 11-7, 11-7.

Women’s A plate: Jill Griffiths beat Rebecca Baker 6-11, 10-12, 12-10, 9-11.
