- Davies Stays In Top As King Of The Mountains Jersey NIC Ked From Him
Scott Davies kept his top 10 slot at the OVO Energy Tour of Britain despite losing his hold on the King of the Mountains jersey.
The Carmarthenshire rider saw the black jersey go to Team Dimension Data team-mate Nic Dlamini on stage four in Royal Leamington Spa.
Dlamini had worn the jersey after the opening stage in Wales on Sunday before seeing Davies inherit it for the next two stages.
But the South African found himself in a six-man breakaway in Warwickshire which allowed him to regain it from his team-mate on the three Skoda KoM’s along the route.
“It’s an incredible feeling to keep the jersey in the team and keep our 10th position in the GC,” said Dlamini. “In this tour it’s all about getting better and we’re looking to improve on the overall too and keeping this jersey.
“Scotty and I are really good mates so, there are still 4 stages coming up so we’ll see as it might change hands again but as long as it’s still within the team then that’s okay.”
Dlamini has 34 points in the KoM battle eight points ahead of Davies with four stages left.
Davies finished in the main bunch in the same time as Andre Greipel who sprinted to victory at the end of the stage from Nuneaton to Royal Leamington Spa.
The 23-year-old stayed 10th 26 seconds adrift of Patrick Bevin with the New Zealander increasing his lead to four seconds after picking up boys seconds.
Stevie Williams is 32nd (+2:59), Geraint Thomas is 53rd overall (4:59) with Jon Mould 91st (+17:41)
