Davies Ready To Put His Back Into World Superbikes Campaign

Chaz Davies has shrugged off a back problem that hampered his World Superbikes test to insist he is raring to get back racing.

The Knighton-born rider sat out Tuesday’s test at the Misano circuit in Italy before finishing his programme on Wednesday.

The Ducati rider said: “We started off in the right direction on Monday, lapping immediately faster than during the race.

“But then I felt a muscle strain and I preferred to consult the medical staff at the track, which was very kind and helpful, before stepping back on the bike.

“Thankfully it was not a serious issue, I recovered quickly and today we were able to try some important things and collect data.

“Our base has improved compared with the last few rounds, I’m happier and more confident so I look forward to get back to racing.”

The test was aimed at testing updates to the Panigale R bike but also give Davies and team-mate Davide Giugliano time on track during the championship’s long summer break.

The 29-year-old eventually racked up 66 laps – Giugliano managed 111 – clocking quicker times that at the Superbikes race at Misano.

Davies is third in the standings and resumes his campaign at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in Germany on September 16-18
