Davies Looking to Maintain World Superbikes Title Momentum

Chaz Davies insists he will not be resting on his laurels as he steps up his World Superbikes title bid in Holland this weekend.

The Knighton-born rider catapulted into second place in the championship with his superb double triumph at the last round at Aragon in Spain.

Last year’s runner-up is just 26 points behind reigning champ Jonathan Rea heading into the fourth round at Assen.

But he is hopeful of improving on last year’s two second places in Holland as the Aruba.it Racing Ducati racer takes the fight to Kawasaki.

The 29-year-old said: “We are heading to Assen with good momentum and a lot confidence, not just for the results we scored but most of all because of the way the bike performed in Spain.

“I like the Assen track, it’s completely different from Aragon and it will give us a good chance to further evaluate the latest technical upgrades.”

Davies, who won at Assen in World Supersport in 2011, knows Rea will be tough to beat after the Ulsterman’s two wins there last year.

He added: “Last year we finished second twice and we were in contention until the finish line.

“Since then the bike has made a lot of progress both in terms of electronics and chassis.

“I’m expecting another tough battle with our rivals, there’s definitely no time to rest on laurels.”
